Imee Marcos, CA justices at possible house detention

Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel on Monday, July 3, displayed to the media the facility where Ilocos Norte Imee Marcos and the three court of appeals justices who arranged the release of so-called “Ilocos Six” are expected to be detained.

Pimentel took reporters to the third floor of the Batasan Pambansa Plenary Hall Building where an extension office of the sergeant-at-arms awaits Marcos.

Imee Marcos’ air-conditioned room is complete with a reception area, a private room and a separate comfort room. In her room, there is also internet and television access inside the room, and she can also operate her cellphone inside.

Like in the case of “Ilocos Six”, who persist to be detained inside the House of Representatives Compound, Marcos will be also permitted to entertain visitors.

Meanwhile, the former Congressional Spouses Foundation Inc. office will serve as the intended detention room of three CA justices – Associate Justices Stephen Cruz, Nino Antonino-Valenzuela, and Edwin Sorongon – who issued a discharge order on the “Ilocos Six”.

The room of three justices is correspondingly found on the third floor of the House of Representatives Main Building.

Compared to Marcos’, the CA justices’ detention room is more ample. It also has its own comfort room, however there is no furniture or appliances installed.

On the other hand, Pimentel on Sunday said they may also be forced to arrest and detain the CA justices if they will insist on the release of “Ilocos Six”.

Moreover, he said, it may “head to a showdown” between the chamber and the CA.
